Imagine climbing a mountain without any equipment…or being able to see things a long, loooooong ways away…or having to butt heads with your friends to see who gets to be the leader! That’s the life of a wild sheep. They have special shaped hooves so they can climb steep, rocky mountain sides. Their super vision lets them see any predators in the distance, making it tough to sneak up on them. And they have contests to see who the leader is by ramming into each other at full speed. But don’t try this yourself – wild sheep have special skulls which protect them from getting hurt. Wild sheep are covered in lots of hair, not wool, which keeps them warm in the cold mountain air. They come in all shapes and sizes, and can weigh over 300 pounds.

Even though they have all these special characteristics to help them survive, they still need our help! Humans help wild sheep by protecting where they live from predators and from human activity. At FNAWS, we’re trying to make sure wild sheep survive and remain an important part of our world for many, many years to come.
